As the world continues to change and develop, science is becoming an ever more important subject! It is a subject that allows children to explore their curiosity about the intricate workings of the world around them as well as developing transferable skills. At Holland Moor we explore many areas of science such as: Animals including Humans, Habitats, Materials, Light, States of Matter, Electricity as well as Earth and Space. We make sure children revisit these areas of science throughout their time at Holland Moor to help improve and build on existing knowledge. The science curriculum has been created to help inspire and build a solid foundation for future budding scientists!
We believe that the skills of observation, prediction and inference are all crucial to developing scientific understanding and pupils have many opportunities to develop these through different types of investigations. We use a practical and visual approach to science, modelling abstract ideas in concrete ways to help children put their ideas and theories into context.
